ITINERARY

Day 1
Day 1 – Arrival and Welcome | Root to Rise Retreat Puerto Rico
Arrive at San Juan’s Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport and make your way to the beautiful Dos Aguas B&B. Settle in with a warm welcome tea and introductions, then enjoy a relaxing evening group dinner to connect with your fellow retreat guests.

Day 2
Day 2 – Yoga, Intention-Setting and Hidden Beach Hike | Root to Rise Retreat Puerto Rico
Begin the day with tea and a rejuvenating yoga session, introducing pranayama breathing, meditation, and sound healing to set your intentions. After breakfast, we’ll venture to La Zanja Trail in Cabezas de San Juan Natural Reserve—an adventure through sandy beaches, forest paths, rocky coastlines, and a refreshing tide pool, leading us to the stunning Playa Escondida (Hidden Beach). In the evening, we’ll share a reflection exercise and gather for a group dinner paired with a hands-on cooking class.

Day 3
Day 3 – Rainforest and Mountain Adventure | Root to Rise Retreat Puerto Rico
Begin with tea and yoga focused on breathwork and visualization, then head into the southern El Yunque for a guided eco-tour—hiking hidden trails, swimming in river pools, and learning about the rainforest’s ecology. In the afternoon, challenge yourself on Montaña Explora’s Via Ferrata, climbing with cables, ladders, and bridges for an unforgettable adventure. End the day with a shared dinner and cooking class.

Day 4
Day 4 – Culture and Sightseeing in Old San Juan | Root to Rise Retreat Puerto Rico
After morning tea and a yoga session with pranayama, meditation, and sound healing, enjoy breakfast before heading out to explore historic Old San Juan. Stroll colorful streets, discover cultural landmarks, and savor lunch on your own at a local restaurant. Return in the evening for a group dinner and cooking class.
Day 5
Day 5 – Chasing Waterfalls | Root to Rise Retreat Puerto Rico
Begin with tea and a revitalizing yoga practice, then enjoy breakfast before heading out for an afternoon in El Yunque Explore the lush beauty of El Yunque Rainforest, where we’ll hike to cascading waterfalls and pause at scenic lookouts for breathtaking views of Puerto Rico’s mountains and coastline. Return to Dos Aguas for group dinner and cooking class.

Day 6
Day 6 – Waves and Closing Ceremony on the Beach | Root to Rise Retreat Puerto Rico
Start with tea and a grounding yoga session focused on breathwork, meditation, and intention-setting. After breakfast, head to Luquillo’s renowned La Pared Beach for surf lessons led by professional instructors—perfect for beginners. In the evening, enjoy a memorable closing dinner by celebrated local chef Carlos Guzmán, complete with a bonfire, live music, and a beachfront manifestation ceremony.

Day 7
Day 7 – Farewell and Departure | Root to Rise Retreat Puerto Rico
Enjoy a light morning together as we wrap up our time at Dos Aguas with gratitude and goodbyes. Guests will depart for the airport at their own pace, carrying home new memories, connections, and intentions from the retreat.

What fitness level do I need for the excursions/adventures?
Participants must be physically fit and comfortable with long walks through some wet and rocky terrain. Participants also need to be able to swim and be relatively comfortable in the water. While part of the retreat includes challenging yourself to get out of your comfort zone, participants must be ready and willing to take on these challenges
If you have any doubts, concerns, or physical difficulties that you are concerned out, please let us know before booking so that we can help you decide if the trek is right for you.
Do I need to have a lot of yoga and meditation experience?
No, We welcome any level of experience at our yoga center. Our Yoga and meditation teachers are experienced, patient, and happy to adjust the class format and poses to meet everybody’s level of yoga practice. We just love to help everyone deepen their practice to the next level before they return home and give practical skills they can use every day.
Who will be leading the retreat?
Your journey will be guided by an experienced and caring team:
Teresa Prendes-Walls – a licensed therapist and sport and performance psychology expert with over 20 years of experienced in mindset training. She will be leading our insight oriented activities, guided meditation, and sound healing sessions. Her presence during our adventure challenges will provide the emotional and mental support to help you get safely out of your comfort zone.
- Carla Arraiza – owner of Dos Aguas Bed and Breakfast with a providing an exceptional and relaxing environment for guests. She is also a yoga teacher and enjoys making yoga, meditation, reiki and healing practices available to all.
- Debbie Shannon – an amazing, friendly, and guest-centered guide with over 25 years experience in Puerto Rico’s tourism – particularly in the adventure, nature, and eco-travel fields.
Together, this team ensures a safe, well-supported, and authentic retreat experience.
How many people will be attending the retreat?
Our retreat can accommodate up to 10 people. Group sizes for these trips vary, though. We hope to have between 5-10 people for the best experience.
What type of equipment do I need to bring?

- Water shoes or sandals with straps (for rivers, waterfalls, kayaking)

Is airport transportation included in the price?
No transportation to and from the airport is not included. We will have guests arriving at different times on different flights throughout the day making it difficult to coordinate group transportation.
Once we know every guest’s flight schedule we can try to help connect you to each other so you can save costs.
If you need help arranging transportation, please let us know at least 1-2 weeks before you arrive.
When should I book my flight?
We need at least 5 people to run the retreat. We will have a deadline of October 15, 2025 for us to meet that goal. We encourage you to wait until that date if possible or be sure to purchase a fully refundable ticket.
